The Experience That Started It All
Before Green Crest existed, our founder spent time working for a large landscaping company, eventually overseeing the care of properties across the region.
It was a job that taught valuable lessons about turf science, seasonal treatment timing, and what it actually takes to keep a lawn healthy through Rock Hill’s hot, humid summers and unpredictable winters.
But it also revealed a problem.
At that scale, lawns stopped being lawns, they became line items. Crews rotated through neighborhoods on tight schedules, treatment plans were generic and one-size-fits-all, and homeowners rarely spoke to the same person twice.
A property with heavy clay soil in one part of York County got the same fertilizer schedule as a sandy yard three towns over. Requests for something specific, like a second look at a brown patch or a question about a new flower bed, often got lost in the shuffle.
